Drumheller, AB to Calgary, AB

We were so impressed with Drumheller that we decided to stay for the morning before heading to Calgary. We did the HooDoo drive and checked out the HooDoos - very cool. DH took some great pics - I will load them when I remember to get the memory card out of the camera!

We then did the Dinosaur Drive, up the S side of the Red Deer River, across the ferry at Bleriot, and then back along the N side of the river. The S side was very dramatic, we were driving between the hills and the river.

The ferry was very small and free, and only took about 5 minutes to cross the river. The northern part of the drive was more agricultural lands and oil derricks, set back from the valley so you wouldn't even know it was there.

Got back to the camp, hooked on the trailer and headed for Calgary via the 9. We stopped for lunch at at day use park on the edge of the valley. We saw some sort of hawk gliding over the valley looking for his lunch!

As we turned off the 9 onto the 546, we saw our first view of Calgary and the Rockies. Can't believe we're getting close!

Pulled into Calgary West Campground around 4 pm. Had a nice supper (salmon, shrimp, rice pilaf, and yellow beans) - so good not to be rushed. After supper the girls went for a swim in the pool while I cleaned up. Got the girls to bed at a good time - DD2 crashed out around 8, DD1 around 9. Still no quiet time for DH and me, as DS was fussy and would not go to sleep. Finally brought him into our bed around 12 am so we could get some shuteye.

Maybe some mommy-daddy time tomorrow?

  1. I enjoyed the drive from Calgary to Drumheller everytime I would drive back to Kelvington when on work term in Calgary. It was always very awe inspiring. I like the shot of you holding the "beverage" - very cool!

I will keep my fingers crossed that you will get your alone time :)
